Create an Unforgettable Moment With the Magic of Live Music

You’ve said yes to your fiancé and said yes to the dress. You’ve embarked upon a whirlwind of invitations and reservations and centerpieces and Insta-scrolling that won’t truly stop until you finally hit that moment. The moment. The moment where you’re waiting just out of sight with your hair all done up and your flowers spilling out of their bouquet and the train of your dress spreading out like a fan. In another few seconds you’ll step deliberately and knowingly from one chapter of your life to another, but just for this moment you’re still waiting…for your music.

What’s the soundtrack for the most anticipated walk of your life?

Why live music?

Live music is special, like buying a custom-made dress. It’s created just for you; no two performances are exactly alike. But with so many couples choosing to cut costs with prerecorded music, why should you splurge on a professional musician? Here are a couple of reasons:

  • When you choose to have live music at your wedding, you capture your guests in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Live music says, “Pay attention; this is happening now! We can’t hit rewind or repeat.”
  • People have associations with a lot of prerecorded music. You do, too; that’s why you’re thinking of using it! But do you really want those memories intruding on this occasion? Save that playlist for the reception and choose music for your ceremony that reflects how you want to feel, not what you hope to be thinking about.
  • Live music is practical and flexible. It won’t hitch if the power goes out. It won’t end early and awkwardly if someone walks slower than they’re supposed to. It won’t cut off in the middle of a big build if you get to the end of the aisle too soon. Professional musicians are trained to adapt to the fluidity of live performance, and I can make sure that your experience looks and feels seamless, even if the truth is a lot more colorful.
  • Live, professional music is classy, and it keeps the focus on you. Afterwards your guests may say, “They had great music!” but at the end of the day that music is the frame for the picture you’re creating. Star Wars wouldn’t be Star Wars without John Williams, but you went to the theater for the story, not for the outstanding brass playing.

When you schedule your free consult, we will meet to discuss your vision for your ceremony and help you determine where in that sequence you might want to have trumpet. If you feel that my work would be a good fit, my fee of $350 includes:

  • My attendance at your rehearsal (so that we can time your walk down the aisle and allow you and everyone else to get familiar with your musical cues)
  • Up to (2) musical selections to be performed at any point in your ceremony

For an additional fee, I can also:

  • Perform additional selections (add $50 per piece of music)
  • Contract an organist or pianist (add $30 booking fee; please note that you will also need to pay that musician according to his or her usual rate)
  • Help you plan the music for your entire ceremony, start to finish, and book other musicians as needed (add $100; please note that you will also need to pay any other musicians according to their usual rates)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. My ceremony is outdoors. Does that matter?

A. No! The trumpet is equally festive indoors and out.

Q. What if it rains?

A. I am entirely happy to play in a light rain. If it rains, you will have bigger problems to worry about than me, so just keep me in the loop and I will adapt.

Q. Do you play jazz?

A. It depends. Jazz is not my area of expertise, but I have still spent time performing in this style. I may be able to recommend a different musician if your needs are outside my comfort zone.

Q. Do you play receptions?

A. Although I am willing to make an appearance at your reception to perform one or two selections (extra fees apply if you need me to play at both the ceremony and reception), I regret that solo trumpet does not work well as background music for a full-length event.
